Egypt has been conquered by the Hyxsos but the young Pharaoh, with one part of his people, found refuge in the lands of the South near to the great cataract. From there he organized the counter-offensive to regain his kingdom. Against this historical background the events of an Egyptian family take place: Nef, Tari, Hanoi … and of many other participants (people and animals amongst which a splendid lion). The Nile is a silent witness to human affairs but, when its assistance is useful, it goes into action and nothing can resist its fury.
This is the sequel to the novel “In the Shadow of the Sphinx” by the same author.
